Booking System Notification Banner Update Follow
Introduction
We’re releasing improvements to the Zero Latency VR Booking System ‘call-out’ banner on Wednesday, 27 August AEST, to improve the user experience and support improved conversion rates.
This affects all venues, so please read below for more details and actions to ensure it displays optimally for your customers.
Release notes
Context:
The Booking System's ‘yellow call-out banner' was introduced in COVID to enable venues to display health and safety messages.
Venues have since used it for an extensive range of messages such as price offers, leaderboard promotions, age or player limits, booking terms, and much more.
Problem:
This means the end-user is often met with 1-2 full pages of text on mobile when they land on the booking page, which is overwhelming and not an optimal user experience.
It’s contributing to 52% of users dropping off between ‘select venue’ and the next step in the journey, ‘select players’. Ultimately, it reduces the opportunity to convert users.
Solution:
We’ve fine-tuned the ‘call-out banner’ to be used for ‘News and Promotions’ – we understand venues need to inform the end user of key information such as price promotions and competitions.
This now features an improved UI with two states:
Collapsed
Displays approx. 2-3 lines on mobile and the option to click ‘see more' for more.
Expanded
Displays up to 800 characters; however, max 400 characters is recommended for ease of reading for the end-user.
Where should I add other information?
- Age or player limits – this is already detailed on each experience package.
- Booking terms – this is already included on the checkout page.
- Arrival times – we recommend that the booking time reflects the arrival time to avoid any customer confusion. Alternatively, if you require customers to arrive prior to their booking time, this can be included within the booking confirmation email.
If you have any other information to display, please reach out to Client Services for guidance.
What do I need to do?
You’ll need to update the “New and Promotions Banner” text to ensure the message length is within the new character limit restrictions in the Portal. Messages that are longer than the character limit restriction will not appear to the end user.
How to confirm your character limit:
- Log in to the ZL Portal
- Go to Settings > Booking System > News and Promotions Banner
Ensure text is less than 400 characters for optimal user experience and to avoid overwhelming users.
Note: Up to 120 characters will display in the ‘collapsed’ view to the end user on mobile.
Note: Text longer than 120 characters will display once the banner is ‘expanded’.
NOTE: This banner only supports one language. Please use the most commonly used language for your venue.
