Booking System Session Slicing - Optimised package availability interval Follow
Introduction
The optimise open times setting in the portal is designed to maximise the number of sessions available per day. This ensures that venues who offer different package durations (i.e. 15-min and 30-min) have as few gaps as possible between sessions. That means that once a booking is made, the booking system will automatically adjust the available session times (session slicing). Please read this article for more information.
Available Sessions
To help explain how session slicing works when offering different package durations, please refer to the image below.
It is based on a venue that:
- Operates from 9 AM - 4 PM
- Offers 40 minute and 60 minute packages
As you can see, the booking system slices the sessions so that the venue has a maximum of 10 x 40 minute packages and/or 7 x 60 minutes packages available throughout the day.
Info
Please note that there is 20 minutes of unallocated time at the end of the day for the 40 minute package as you cannot fit another session without extending your open time.
Session Slicing
To help explain how session slicing works once a booking has been made, please refer to the image below.
It is based on two sessions of the 40 minute package being booked (the 12:20 pm and 1:00 pm sessions respectively). As you can see, the bookings affect the 60 minute packages available throughout the day. By using forward and backward slicing, the system automatically changes the available times to fit as many sessions as possible.
You will notice there is now more unallocated time to be able to fit the sessions.
As more sessions are booked throughout the day, the system will adapt to ensure it can fit as many sessions as possible for both package durations.
