How do I complete a Game Space Calibration and floor height adjustment? (Hand Tracker) Follow
Introduction
Any time you complete a new scan or an update to the game space map, a calibration must be run to ensure alignment is accurate.
This ensures the virtual environment is safe and unobstructed for players during experiences. If the alignment is not correct, players could potentially walk into walls or they will not be using the whole game space.
Caution
The Game Space Calibrator process will define the boundary of the game space to ensure the content fits and is aligned correctly. It does not fix tracking issues.
Step 2: Calibrate the Game Space
How can I improve my calibration rating?
What should I do if I lose tracking?
Step 1: Remove the Tracker
- Power on one headset only.
Caution
Make sure that all other headsets are powered off and that the game space is clear of any obstacles (chairs, trollies, people etc).
- Find the matching controller and remove the Tracker.
- Disconnect the power cable.
- Power on the Tracker (it should already be paired to your headset).
Step 2: Calibrate the Game Space
- On the Launcher, select the "Game Space Calibrator" game.
Throughout this process, you will need to walk to each floor marker and use them to create a boundary that aligns with the real walls. You will need to align the Tracker with the sticker outline and then pull the trigger to confirm it. Each sticker will have a number on in it to assist you with the order.
- Walk to the centre of the game space, put on your headset and follow the instructions.
Caution
It is important to ensure that the cameras on the headset are always in view of the Tracker whilst pulling the trigger.
- For the safety review, you will need to walk to each of the markers and check that the boundary aligns with the real walls.
- If the boundary does not align with the real walls, you will need to restart the calibration process.
Adjusting Floor Height
(This is a new feature included with launcher 4.1.0+, if you are on an older version of Launcher as of reading; please contact Client Services to assist you with Floor height adjustment)
Once you have checked the walls, you'll be able to then make an adjustment to the floor height so it better matches with your site's actual floor.
This can now be done in the Gamespace Calibration tool (v1.8+) as part of the calibration process.
The instructions will guide you through how to lay your tracker down on the floor, making sure the tracker is in clear for the headset to know its position.
Then by pulling the trigger, the floor height will be automatically adjusted up/down to closely reflect the tracker's position against it. If you're happy that the new floor height better represents the actual floor position, then feel free to continue.
At the end of the calibration, you will get a rating.
- Good: This is a highly accurate calibration.
- Ok: This is within an acceptable error range, we highly recommend you redo the calibration.
- Poor: This is not acceptable and will need to be redone. You will not be able to save this.
Step 3: Test Game Boundary
Once you have completed a calibration, please test boundaries of the following games:
- Engineerium
- Sol Raiders
- Undead Arena
Info
If the boundaries are not correct in these games, please re-calibrate the map. If there are still issues please log a ticket to Zero Latency Support.
How can I improve my calibration rating?
- Make sure that the Tracker is inside the circular outline on the sticker.
- Make sure the cameras on the headset can see the Tracker whilst you are pressing the trigger.
Warning
If the system provides a poor rating three times in a row, please contact Zero Latency support. There are some quick and small adjustments we can make to fine tune the calibration.
What should I do if I lose tracking?
- If you ever lose tracking during this process, make sure that you can see the Tracker and that it is following your movements in VR.
- If that doesn't work, walk to the centre point and slowly look around until you re-gain tracking.
- If that doesn't work, click the "Restart" button on the Mobile Game Master or on the Launcher.
Important: You are required to ensure your floor height is correct to run Space Marine VR. If it is not, the game will be considered a misrepresentation of the Space Marine IP and we will need to pull the game from your system. Ensure your height is correctly set before starting public operations with Space Marine VR.
