Haunted: Operational Flow Guide Follow
Introduction
You can run Haunted either first or second in a session. Both approaches work, but we generally recommend starting with the other Experience and finishing with Haunted.
Approach 1: Start with the other Experience (Recommended)
Approach 2: Start with Haunted (Alternative)
Approach 1: Start with the other experience (Recommended)
Flow
Run briefing for the first Experience (covers safety, so no Haunted briefing needed).
Play the first Experience (briefing knowledge is fresh).
-
After the first Experience, switch to Haunted.
Tell players you’ll collect their controllers.
Quick-release the strap from the controller and leave straps on players.
This avoids downtime and reduces risk of pulling off headsets.
Play Haunted.
Best suited to
Works for all players
Especially strong for repeat players: starts with something familiar, then shifts into something new and surprising
Why use this approach
Smoother experience – only one briefing needed, knowledge fresh for players for briefed Experience
Strong player journey – power fantasy first (zombies), then loss of control in Haunted → stronger intimidation and reactions
Strong ending – Haunted finishes with memorable scares, exciting debrief, and more chance of PTV shares
Approach 2: Start with Haunted (Alternative)
-
Flow
- Run both briefings at the start (other Experience first, then Haunted) so there’s no downtime in the gamespace.
Have players wear straps only (no controllers). This makes it easy to hand out controllers after Haunted without awkwardly putting straps over headsets.
Play Haunted.
After Haunted, give controllers to players in the gamespace and clip them into the straps.
Play the other Experience.
-
Best suited to
First-time ZL players booking Haunted for its escape Experience/exploration feel.
These players get the adrenaline hit they expect from Haunted first, then are introduced to Undead Area or Outbreak as a gateway to other experiences.
-
Why use this approach
Upsells ZL content to players mainly interested in Haunted
May create stronger scare reactions, as go straight into Haunted without warming up
