Windows in Games Space Requirements Follow
Introduction
For detailed information on requirements to install windows in your game space, follow the article below.
Required (Critical)
These points MUST be followed so that the tracking system works:
- No natural light must be present in the game space/tracking environment.
- No glossy, shiny, or reflective surfaces can face into the game space.
- No changes to the environment lighting via coloured lights, or very large TVs or screens.
Best Practice
To improve the reliability of the tracking system, follow the points below:
- Tracking graphics present on all windows and glass on the game space side.
- Matte surface on the game space side of any windows into the game space.
- Artificial lighting on both sides of the window that are controllable, lighting can be slightly darker on the outside of the game space.
Current Unknowns
There are still some unknowns with windows in the game space so please keep the below points in mind:
- Possible length and width of the glass wall prior to impacting tracking (if this point exists).
- Impact that the viewing window's proximity to the game space has on the function of the tracking (current glass windows installed 1.5 meters from game space edge)
Example Windows
Half solid / Half Glass (Recommended)
Where the wall is solid and covered in tracking graphics to 4 feet / 1.2 meters, with a glass window above that height, the glass window also follows the conditions above with tracking graphics, matte finish and controllable lighting.

Half solid / Half Empty
Think ice hockey walls, a solid wall to 4 feet / 1.2 meters, with an empty space above. This may require tracking graphics on the next available wall surface.

Full Glass wall with Tracking Graphics
A floor to ceiling glass wall looking into the game space. Needs to follow all conditions above with tracking graphics, matte finish and controllable lighting.
