How do I set up Google Tag Manager (GTM)? Follow
Introduction
This guide will allow all venues, including those that are converting from former Google Tag Management configurations, to accurately set up their GTM configuration to align with Zero Latency.
By the end of this process, you will have configured GTM to read events from the Zero Latency booking engine and have it displayed in your GTM account.

If you currently have a configured Google Tag Manager account, please contact Zero Latency Marketing to confirm your configuration setup, as following the instructions on this page will likely overwrite important settings.
Step 1: Setup your Google Account

Step 1: Setup your Google Account
- Navigate to Google Tag Manager.
- Login with a Google account that is appropriate to manage your marketing efforts.

This can be a dedicated marketing account or the account of your venue's marketing manager.
- Click Create Account.
- Set the Account Name to the first two characters of your Venue Code followed by a space, dash, space and your business name. For example “ZL - Zero Latency".
- Set the Country as the country your venue operates in.
- Set the Container Name to be the full venue code followed by a space, dash, space and your venue name. For example “ZL-BN - Zero Latency Brisbane”.
- Note: If you run multiple venues, and you desire for all information (tags) to go to the same place, you can point all venues to the same GTM container. Thus, you may want to name the container similar to "ZL-xx - Zero Latency Venues".
- Select Target Platform of Web.
- Click Agree on the Terms of Service.
- The main workspace for Google Tag Manager will open and provide you with two code snippets. You can safely close this code snippet window.
- Copy the Code that is shown in the top right of the Workspace.

The code will be in the format of GTM-XXXXXXX.
Step 2: Add GTM to the Portal
- Login to the Zero Latency Portal.
- Select Settings and then Booking System.

You can only change these settings if you have the "Admin" user permission in the Portal.
- Scroll to the Google Tag Manager ID field and insert the code from Google Tag Manager, then click Save.
- Now, when any customer is booking a ticket on the Zero Latency VR | Free-Roam Virtual Reality Entertainment website, you will receive ‘events’ in Google Tag Manager.
Step 3: Complete the Setup
- Download the following container file for Google Tag Manager: GTM Container (latest version: 3.2).
- Open Google Tag Manager.
- Click Admin.
- Click Import Container.
- Click Choose Container File and select the container file you downloaded.
- Select Existing and Select Default Workspace.
- Select Overwrite, then click SUBMIT TO WORKSPACE.
- You will then be taken back to the main window.
- Click Preview.
- The GTM Debugger will then open in a new window.
- Type in https://zerolatencyvr.com/ and click Connect.
- The Zero Latency website will then open in another window.
- Click any of the Book Now CTA buttons or links on the Zero Latency website.
- Select your Venue from the venue selection list.
- Verify that in your Google Tag Manager debugger, a series of events were received.
- You can now connect any Tags (actions) to these events in order to assist your marketing efforts.

Step 4: Invite the Zero Latency Marketing Account
- Invite marketing_admin@zerolatencyvr.com as a new user to your GTM account with User Permissions and Publish access.
- This will permit Zero Latency HQ to update the versions of the GTM configuration if and when the data-layer is changed.
