Business Manager, developed by Facebook (now Meta Platforms Inc.), is a centralized tool for managing Facebook and Instagram assets, including pages, ad accounts, and Instagram accounts. It offers a single interface for businesses and agencies to securely manage marketing and advertising activities, assign roles and control user access.
This guide will walk you through the steps required to set up your Meta Business Manager and to add Zero Latency HQ as a partner.

Step 1: Setting up your Meta Business Manager
In this section, we will go through the process of setting up your Meta Business Manager. This will allow you to manage multiple assets such as pages, ad accounts, and team members in one place.

You need a Meta (Facebook) account to set up a Business Manager account.
- Go to business.facebook.com.
- Click on 'Create Account'.
- Enter a name for your business, select the primary Page, and enter your name and work email address.
- Move through the rest of the onboarding flow by entering the rest of the required fields.
- Your business manager account should now be setup.
Step 2: Create an Ad account
- Click on Ad accounts under Accounts.
- Click Add and then Create a new ad account.
- Type the Ad account name in the format XX-XX - Venue Name. For example “ZL-BN - Zero Latency Brisbane“.
- Select the Time zone and Currency as appropriate for your venue.
- Once the Ads account is created, you will also need to set up the billing before ads can run. To do so, on the Meta Business Manager page, navigate to Account.
- Under Ad accounts, click the name of the ad account you created.
- Click Open in Ads Manager:
- As this is a new account, a prompt message to input your billing details will appear. Click on this and follow the steps accordingly.
- If this message is not visible, hover on the settings pane on the leftmost of the screen.
- You will find an option called Billings & payments.
- Click Payment methods:
- Click Add payment method:
- Enter your card details accordingly.
Step 3: Create a Data Source (also known as Meta Pixel)
- Select Data sources.
- Click Dataset.
- Click Add:
- Set the Pixel (now Dataset) name in the format XX-XX - Venue Name Pixel. For example “ZL-BN - Zero Latency Brisbane Dataset“.
- Connect it to the Ad account you created by clicking Connect assets:
- From the Ad account list, click the name of the Ad account you created.
- Finish linking them by clicking Add.
Step 4: Link Meta Pixel to Google Tag Manager
- Copy the Dataset ID displayed. as an example, the ID below is 9389034437878981:
- Go to your Google Tag Manager account.
- Click Variables.
- Locate the tag labeled Meta (Facebook) Pixel ID and click on it.
- Edit the Value you obtained from Meta.
- Click Save.
Step 5: Share Meta properties with Zero Latency HQ
- Login to Meta Business Manager.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Under Users, click Partners:
- Click Add.
- Click Give a partner access to your assets.
- Type the Business Manager ID 307140790047070.
- Click Show advanced options.
- Tick Finance Analyst and Developer.
- Click Next.
- Under Pages, select the Facebook page you created for your business.
- Select every option (or select Full Control at the bottom).
- Under Ad Accounts, select the ad account you created.
- Select every option.
- Under Pixels (now Data Sources), select the pixel (now Dataset) you created.
- Select Manage pixel (now Dataset).
- Under Instagram accounts, select the account you created.
- Select every option.
- Click Invite.
Warning
Manage pixel (now Dataset) is required so that we can add new events and new conversions if and when they are published by Zero Latency.
