Dual System Setup Guide Follow
Introduction
This article will take you through all the steps required to setup and configure a Gen3 Dual System once the equipment arrives on site.
It is recommended that you keep the equipment for "System A" and "System B" separate during this process to reduce the chance of misconfiguration of the system.
Re-label and re-image Computers for System
Setup and Configure HMD's for both systems
Re-label Controllers for System B
Set up the Physical Network
The first step in setting up your site will be installing the network. This is required for all the devices on site to communicate correctly; allowing them to connect to the internet and update their configuration.
This needs to be completed prior to setting up any of the computers or headsets, as they will require a connection to the internet to function correctly.
Documentation: Set up the Physical Network
Set up the Computers for System A
System A can be setup straight away, as all the machines should be named and configured correctly. You can follow the documentation below to set up System A.
Just ensure when plugging in Machines for this system that you plug all machines into:
Switch #1 (XX-XX-SW-01)
- Install Your Content Server
- Install Your Streaming Servers
- Install Your Game Master Station
- Setup Your Support Phone
- Install Your Spectator PC
- Install the Cameras from the Player Takeaway Video Camera Kit
- Configure the cameras for the Player Takeaway Video
Re-label and re-image Computers for System B
The Computers that came with your "System B" will need to be re-labelled and re-imaged so that they are in line with the correct naming scheme for your site and are configured correctly.
Follow the documentation below:
Documentation: How to complete Server Re-labelling and system re-imaging (Dual System Deployment)
Set up the Computers for System B
Once the machines have been re-labelled and re-imaged, they can now be setup normally. You can follow the documentation below to set up System B.
Just ensure when plugging in Machines for this system that you plug all machines into:
Switch #2 (XX-XX-SW-02)
NOTE: The names and numbers of systems listed in the documentation below are intended for a single system. Refer to the naming scheme in the [Dual System Overview] for the equivalent in System B.
(CS-02, GM-02, SS-09 -> SS-16)
- Install Your Content Server
- Install Your Streaming Servers
- Install Your Game Master Station
- Setup Your Support Phone
- Install Your Spectator PC
- Configure the cameras for the Player Takeaway Video
Re-label Controllers for System B
When you receive your two sets of equipment for "System A" and "System B", they are configured and labelled to function as individual systems.
"System B" controllers will need to be re-labelled to allow for ease of identification between the two systems. Backend configuration for this change will also need to be done by the Client Services team.
Follow the documentation linked below to re-label the controllers to match the new naming scheme:
Documentation: How to Change Controller ID Labels (Dual System Deployment)
Setup and Configure HMD's for both systems
Once all other parts of the system have been setup, we are now ready to setup and configure the HMD's,
In this part you will unbox the headsets, set them up physically, update the firmware for the head and the trackers, and then install the Zero Latency software onto the headsets to allow them to connect with the rest of the system.
During this process it is highly recommended that you keep the two Systems apart from each other to ensure that they are configured correctly, as System A and System B have different configurations to ensure they can work in close proximity to each other.
Follow the documentation below and once you have completed the headset setup, return to this page and move onto the next step:
Documentation: Configure HMD's for System A and System B.
Setup supporting equipment for the site
Lastly, we need to setup equipment that is shared between the two Systems. You will receive duplicate equipment for these systems (one for System A, one for System B), and it's up to your site to decide if you wish to have multiple of the following, or just keep it as a spare. The choice will likely have already been made by the time you read this, and it is very dependent on your particular site layout.
If you are unsure if you are setting up multiples of the below equipment, please contact Client Services.
And that's the end of this guide. If all went well, you should now have a functioning Dual System. Please contact Client Services and let them know you have completed this process.
